The DVI Graphics Shield gives you true color (24-bit)
output to DVI monitor at up to 864x480 resolution (VGA or WVGA) and can also
output to analog VGA or 4.3" or 5" touchscreens using available plugin
adapters.
Can be connected as a shield for Propeller Prop
Platform or used in any generic microcontroller setup with 12 I/O pins
(generic 8080 interface) at 3.3 V.
Shown mounted on Propeller Platform USB.
Uses the Solomon SSD1963 graphics controller (large
chip on left) with 1215 kB of RAM to generate digital VGA signal and Ti
TFP410 DVI transmitter (smaller chip on right) to convert to DVI.
A very low cost DVI to HDMI cable allows you to display
on newer TVs.
Only 12 I/O pins are required for 8080 8-bit bus
interface to SSD1963 (D0..D7, CS, DC, WR and RD).
Requires 3.3 VDC and 5 VDC power (although 5 VDC
may not be required in all cases).
Optional I2C interface (SDA and SCL) allows
optional access to DVI transmitter or expansion.
The central 40-pin connector allows for VGA and
4.3" TFT panel plug-in boards:
VGA Plug-In: Provides analog VGA signal and
DB15 connector (Now Available!)
Just modify this line in the driver file when
using VGA Plugin:
bUsingVgaPlugin=true 'false
Touchscreen Plug-In: Provides 4.3" LCD
panel interface for Samsung and Newhaven 480x272 pixel 4.3"
touchscreens and also provides touchpanel input over I2C (Now
Available!).
Note: Both connectors are "bottom
contacts" type, so insert contact side down.
There's a special version of the driver that
runs both Samsung and Newhaven 4.3" touchscreens.
Update: Can also drive the Newhaven 5"
LCDs with a resolution of 800x480!
Capacitive Touch:
Newhaven 4.3" and 5" capacitive touch LCDs can
now be used by adding in a small adapter and running four jumper
wires as shown here:
