YouTube Video of Demo: VIDEO
Basic Demo source code:
Demo#5 (download here): Shows how to use 2 different custom
fonts in text mode, how to display Windows BMP images from SD and also
how to use the graphics primitives, such as line, point and circle.
Note: The VGA Graphics Shield now shares it's driver with the
DVI Graphics Shield. So, code
can be interchangeable.
There are just 2 settings at the top of the driver file that need to
be adjusted to match your setup.
Note: Advanced demos require reading from the SSD1963, which
is known to have possible noise issues when the shield is not used
with a Propeller Platform board. It has been observed that
adding a tiny, like 30 pF, capacitor between the RD signal and
ground can fix this issue on non-Propeller Platform boards.
Hardware for connection to Propeller Platform
Headers allow you to easily connect the VGA Graphics Shield to a
Propeller Platform (You can use headers to attach shields above or even below
Headers are not included with VGA Graphics Shield
Usually we put female headers on the outer rows on both sides
of Propeller Platform and male pins on the VGA Graphics Shield
Here are Digikey part numbers for what we use:
16-position female header, single row:
Note: You can just use wire cutters to cut one up
to make the 4-pin header (you do lose one position this
Longer length male pins, 36-position, single row:
The longer length is better for the VGA Graphics
Shield to give clearance.
